The Thirsty Moose Tap House is located at 360 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH. They have other locations in Manchester, Portsmouth, Dover and Exeter.
Out for a drive on a Saturday afternoon we happened by the Thirsty Moose. It’s located in what looks like a strip mall. Upon entering I was surprised how large the dining area was. The atmosphere in my opinion was a bit lack luster. I found the ceiling to the most interesting part.
They serve over 100 brews on tap plus a variety of bottles. They have a wide variety of seltzers. I really like that they have non-alcoholic and even gluten free beers and seltzers. I think it’s great that they have options for special customer needs.
There are brewers represented from Boston, Contoocook, North Hampton, MA, Rollinsford, NH, Londonderry, NH just to name a few. They don’t brew beer here, but they do have a large selection. The line up of the brew paddles was very impressive. It’s amazing to me how the waitstaff know exactly where every beer is located with so many to choose from.
They have a pretty cool loyalty program at Thirsty Moose. If you try 100 beers (hopefully not all at one sitting!), you get a $50 merchandise voucher. Also for every dollar you spend you earn points. For every 300 points you accumulate, you get $20 voucher. Monday all day and Tuesday through Friday from 11:30-2pm is double points.
Though there was no entertainment or event when I was there, check out their website because they do have live music events. They also have trivia nights on Mondays evenings.

In conclusion my friends… beer is always good. Their selection is amazing, however, I found the atmosphere to be less than exciting and inviting. My husband thought it was great and liked the atomosphere… so there’s that. In my opinion, I would have liked to see some varied separation between tables and some type of system to absorb the sound. With so many people in an open space it echoed and was way too loud. I always check out the bathrooms on these reviews and they do have a TV in the bathrooms but they need more character.
On a scale of 1-10, I’d live the Thirsty Moose a “10” for staff service and friendliness. “5” on atmosphere. I’d love your opinion.
Until next time, Sharon
